The night began with The BOP FM Jay Hawks just holding off a fast finishing Tanks side 63 – 61. The game went right down to the final seconds as The Tanks missed the chance to tie the game up and send the game to overtime with an unsuccessful shot in the final seconds. The win for the Jay Hawks all but secures their place in the top 4 with only 3 rounds remaining. The only team that has mathematical chance of knocking them out of the race is C3 Ltd. It means the final game of the regular season between the two in a few weeks may become crucial. In the other games A&J Demolition jumped to 2nd place in the competition after defeating Tauranga Boys College Old Boys in a dramatic overtime thriller 62 -57. In a game that had everything A & J Demolition came from behind in the 4th quarter to tie up the game and send it to a 5 minute overtime period. Straight away in the extra period A&J took it to a tiring Old Boys team going up by 6 points from there they never looked back on their way to the win. Adam Carter and Daniel Kelly from A & J were the stand out performers with 22 and 21 respectively. Matt Fullerton top scored with 20 points for TBC Old Boys. In the nights other game, competition front runners Fraser Titans easily defeated KPMG 106 – 39. With three rounds remaining the battle will now be on between Fraser, A & J Demolition and TBC Old Boys to see who will gain the top spot going into the playoffs.
